pingpongarcade| South Korea's hybrid car sales surged 41% year-on-year in the first four months
Market tracker CarIsYou said on Thursday that registrations of hybrid vehicles in South Korea rose 41% year-on-year in the first four months of this year amid slowing sales of pure electric vehicles.
CarIsYou said in a report that in the first four months of this year, the number of newly registered gasoline hybrids and plug-in hybrids in South Korea jumped to 129201 from 91750 in the same period last year.
91% of newly registered hybrid vehicles come from Hyundai Motor and its smaller subsidiary Kia Motors, while Japanese brands-Honda, Toyota and their luxury brand Lexus-account for 5%pingpongarcade.7%, and the rest are other brands.
CarIsYou saidpingpongarcade:"Demand for gasoline hybrids is expected to remain strong for the time being, but in the long run, electric vehicle sales will rebound if governments come up with solutions to high electric vehicle prices and insufficient charging infrastructure."
